If you're a fan ok Korean cosmetics you've probably read and heard a lot about about bee venom, maybe even tried some of it. It's not as famous as snail products, but they're getting there.

After doing some research of the properties of bee venom, I found that products with it as ingredient are targeted specially towards people with acne prone skin, although it can be used by everybody. Roughly, bee venom's properties are: hydrating, leaving a lifting-like sensation, wrinkle care, acne care and anti-inflamatory.

Having such a good experience with Nature Republic's Super Aqua Fresh Watery Cream (I reviewed in this post), I decided to also buy from them this emulsion (because you know, oily skin).

Si eres fan de la cosmética coreana, seguramente hayas leído u oído hablar sobre el veneno de abeja, incluso probar algún producto. No es tan famoso como los derivados del caracol, pero está llegando poco a poco a su nivel

Después de buscar bastante por internet sobre las propiedad del veneno de abeja, resulta que los productos que lo contienen están especialmente destinados a gente con la piel con tendencia acnéica, aunque lo pueden utilizar todas las personas. A grandes rasgos, las propiedades del veneno de abeja son: hidratación, el dejar una sensación de lifting, anti arrugas, cuidado del acné y anti inflamatorio.

El que tuviera tan buena experiencia con la Super Aqua Fresh Watery Cream de Nature Republic (puedes leer sobre ellas aquí aquí ), hizo que me decidiera a comprar ésta crema a la misma compañía.

Nature Republic Bee Venom emulsion is sold in a hard plastic bottle that comes in a cupboard box and nothing else, no plastic wrap. Yay for no useless packaging! The bottle has a screw cap, and it comes with a plastic lid to ensure the "new-eness" of the product but since I took the photos a couple of months after I started using it...

Bee Venom emulsion de Nature Republic se vende en una botella de plástico duro, que viene en una caja de cartón sin ningún otro envoltorio inútil e innecesario. La botella tiene un tapón desenroscable, y dentro viene con una pequeño plástico tapando el agujero por donde sale el producto, pero como hice las fotos unos meses después de empezar a utilizarlo...

Skinfood also has this kind of packaging and I'm not a fan: you have to literally shake the bottle for the product to come out, and the first times, when you're still not used to the product, it always comes out too much of it. When you get familiar with the product and the amount you really need everything is easier but... Bright side of it: since it's plastic, although a hard one, the bottle can be squeezed a little bit. So what I usually do is shake the bottle once so the product comes forward and then squeeze the bottle to get the amount of product I really need.

Skinfood también tiene éste tipo de aplicación y no me gusta nada: tienes que sacudir la botella para que salga la crema y, si no se está acostumbrado más seguro que salga mucho más de lo que se necesite. Una vez que se sabe la cantidad necesaria es algo más fácil pero aún así... Lo bueno que tiene: como es plástico, aunque sea duro, se puede apretar un poco la botella. Así que lo que yo hago es sacudirla una vez estando cerrada para que el producto vaya hacia la salida, y después apretar para que salga lo que necesite.

Nature Republic Bee Venom emulsion's ingredient list is quite long, but I think it might be because bee venom has a lot of ingredients. Don't quote me on that though, I'm still not fully sold out on that because Nature Republic claims that the emulsion has a 70% of bee venom complex, yet at the 2/3 of the ingredient list you can read "bee venom" so yeah...

In their website, the brand specifies that all of their Bee Venom line are made with venom of the bees from southern Swedish regions (Stromsnasbruk and Hjarnarp), plus with saclicylic acid. It also has a bunch of oils and flower extracts. Despite having butylene glycol really high on the list, alcohol is really low (meaning the concentration of it is also low).

I think the fact that it has so many ingredients is what makes this emulsion to have such a strong smell. I'm still torn on if I like it or if I don't. It doesn't smell like anything I remember, yet it reminds me of bee smell when I went to try apiculture when I was young (but maybe this is their marketing working?). If you don't like your cosmetics to smell, take this into account.

La lista de ingredientes es larga, por una parte pienso que es porque el veneno de abeja está compuesto de varias cosas. No toméis eso muy en serio, porque todavía no me lo creo ni yo del todo, ya que Nature Republic especifica que ésta emulsión tiene un 70% de veneno de abeja, y se puede leer hacia los 2/3 de la lista un ingrediente que es literalmente, veneno de abeja así que...

En la página web, Nature Republic especifica que toda su línea "Bee Venom" está realizada con veneno de abejar de regiones suecas (Stromsnasbruk y Hjarnarp) y ácido salicílico, además de tener varios extractos de plantas y aceites. A pesar de tener butilinglicol al principio de la lista, el alochol está muy bajo, es decir, su concentración es muy baja.

Creo que el hecho de que tenga tantos ingredientes es lo que hace que ésta emulsión tenga un olor tan fuerte. Todavía no estoy segura de si me gusta o no. No huele como nada que recuerde, aún así me recuerda a las abejas cuando hice apicultura siendo niña (aunque me da la sensación de que esto es más por el márketing de la marca...). Si no te gusta que las cremas huelan, tenlo en cuenta.

I didn't take a photo of it because it's written in hangul but this Bee Venom emulsion is 8 free: paraben, mineral oil, benzephone, talk, sulfate and... other ingredients that I couldn't figure out what were they trying to transcript. And they don't have it in their korean or global website so.

Others emulsion are kind of runny, but this Nature Republic Bee Venom emulsion feels more like a cream when out of the bottle. When applied it totally feels lightweight and not greasy at all, although it does take some time until it fully absorbs, it also hydrates the skin while keeping it fresh so- emulsion!

No le saqué foto porque está escrito en hangul, pero ésta emulsión Bee Venom está libre de 8 ingredientes: parabenos, aceites minerales, benzofenona, talco, sulfatos y otros ingredientes que no sé que transcriben. Y no están puesto ni siquiera en la página web coreana o la global.

Otras emulsiones son resbaladizas, pero la Bee Venom Emulsion de Nature Republic parece más una crema nada más sacada del bote. Al aplicarla es una sensación totalmente diferente, ligera y nada grasienta, y aunque es un rato hasta que se absorbe totalmente, hidrata mucho la cara- es decir: emulsión!

I didn't see the results from the start, but using it daily in both my morning and night time routine, I started noticing improvements in my skin tone, less redness and when I had an occasional pimple it never fully grew, it would heal before it was really noticeable. So yes, I'm very pleased with it. The other time when I was reminded how much this changed my skin was the following little story (story time!):

I had to go back tot he city where I went (it feels so good saying it in past tense!) to University, but since I was only going to be carrying hand-luggage, I didn't want to carry to much weight, specially not because of creams. So instead of going back with my regular cleanser and this emulsion, I went with a sample cleanser and a cream... they both broke me out badly. It wasn't only because of that, thought. These products forced my pimples "out" of my skin: I had been using for about 3 months a vitamin C serum (really famous one online...) and for the last month I noticed it had given me closed comedones in the area. Seriously, during that week, my skin around the chin, cheeks and eyes (I was also like ????? seriously ????) was totally chapped and I had pimples even in my cheeks when I have rarely had pimples in my cheeks in my almost 24 years of life. My skin hadn't been that bad for years.

No noté resultados desde el principio, pero usándola en mi rutina diaria de noche y día, me empecé a dar cuenta de las mejoras en el tono de la piel, menos rojeces y que cuando me salía algún granito esporádico, nunca me terminaba de salir y la inflamación se reducía desde el primer día. Así que estaba muy contenta. La otra vez que me di cuenta de lo bien que hace a mi pie fue por ésta pequeña historia:

Tenía que volver a la ciudad donde iba a la universidad (wee pasado!), pero como no quería llevar maletas y sólo tenía pensado llevar la bolsa de mano, no quería llevar mucho peso y menos por cremas. Así que en vez de llevarme el limpiador y crema que estaba utilizando, volví con dos muestras y... fatalidad. No fueron sólo estos dos y lo sé. Éstos fueron los causante de que los granitos "salieran a la superficie", pero llevaba sobre 3 meses utilizando un serum de vitamina C (muy famoso en internet...) y hacia el último mes me empezaron a salir comedones cerrados. Me destrozaron la barbilla, semanas después seguía todavía con granos como hacía años que nunca había tenido, pero aquella semana  fue horrible: la barbillas, los papos, los párpados tan resecos que no sabía qué hacer... Nunca, nunca la había tenido tan mal desde que terminé el Rouccutane hace ya casi 7 años.

So when I got home and was able to change my routine back to normal and to this emulsion, I started noticing changes from the first night; the skin slowly showed signs of hydration and pimples began disappearing. I know it wasn't only because of this, because I also used some really good essence samples, but it had a lot to do in it. Also, see how little product I have on my hand? That's enough for my whole face. Seriously.

Although I'm really happy with it, there are other brands that offer bee venom products with a shorter ingredient list, the reason that, at least for now, I'm not planning on repurchasing this. But if you want to start trying bee venom product this could be a great first choice! My father bought this one for me in Seoul, so I'm sorry I don't know how much it cost over there, but online I think it is around 20$ (19€).

Así que al volver a casa y cambiar de nuevo mi rutina y poder utilizar ésta emulsión otra vez a diario, noté cambios desde la primera noche; la piel poco a poco se fue re hidratando y los granitos dejaron de dar tanto miedo por la hinchazón. No es que fuera solamente por éste producto, porque también utilicé unas muestras muy buenas de otros, pero tuvo mucho que ver. Por cierto, veis el poco producto que tengo en la mano? Es suficiente para mi cara, de verdad.

Aunque sí que estoy muy contenta con ello, sé que hay más marcas que ofrecen productos de veneno de abeja con una lista de ingredientes mucho más corta, razón por la que, de momento, no voy a volver a comprarla. Sin embargo, si queréis introducir una crema con veneno de abeja a vuestra rutina, ésta es una gran opción. Mi padre me compró ésta en Seúl, así que no se cuánto cuesta allí, online la he visto por unos 20$ (19€).
